|  | The Church Council is primarily an administrative body that also serves a valuable coordinating function. The Church Council shall consist of the President, the Vice-President, the Treasurer, the Chairman of the Administrative Boards, and the Pastor of the congregation, all of whom will hold membership on the Church Council until their term of office expires.
The Church Council is a decision making and administrative body but also serves as a forum where the activities of the Administrative Boards may be discussed, evaluated, and coordinated, and where all such activities may be integrated into an over all congregational program. The Church Council shall be available at all times, however, for any additional functions which the Voting Membership may wish to confer upon it.

Church Council

Education
The purpose of the Board for Christian Education is to plan and administer the educational programs of the Congregation, for the instruction and growth of the children, youth and adults in God’s Word.
Missions
The purpose of the Board for Missions is to respond to the command of our Lord Jesus set forth in Acts
1:8…”you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem [Conway], and in Judea [Faulkner County/Arkansas], and Samaria [other local cultures and language groups] and to the ends of the earth.”
Fellowship
The Board for Fellowship’s purpose is to support and strengthen the mission and ministry of the Congregation through food and fun.
Deacon/Elder
The Board of Elders shall concern themselves with the spiritual life and care of the Congregation and called church workers.
Media Relations
Establish and maintain a continuing program of publicity for the congregation and its activities which will reflect favorably on the congregation and its commitment to the Gospel of Christ. It will also represent the congregation in community activities as well as keeping the congregation informed of social, political, and economic developments within the community.

Create advertisements for local news media
Properties
The Board for Church Properties’ purpose is to be responsible for the proper maintenance and repair of church property, negotiate service contracts for church equipment, represent the Congregation in all legal matters pertaining to church properties, and see to the general protection of the Congregation against loss or damage.
Stewardship
The Board for Stewardship’s purpose is to encourage God-pleasing, cheerful living and giving both corporately and individually for the sake of the spreading of the Gospel as a Spirit-empowered result of faith in Christ.
Youth
The purpose of the Board for Youth Ministries is to encourage and promote involvement of the youth of the Congregation in the work of Christ, to provide for their spiritual growth and nurture, and to promote genuine Christian fellowship among them.
President
The position of President is an elected position that serves a two year term. The President of the congregation shall preside at all meetings of the Voting Membership. The President shall:
Enforce the Constitution and Bylaws of the congregation and carry out the expressed will of the congregation as embodied in the resolutions of the Voting Membership.
Appoint a secretary immediately after he/she has taken office who shall continue in office until the President's term of office expires.
Appoint an Auditing Committee consisting of any two qualified communicant members of the congregation other than the Treasurer to audit the financial records of the congregation.
Submit the Financial Audit Committee's report at the Voters Meeting each year
Vice-President
The position of Vice-President is an elected position that serves a two year term. The Vice-President of the congregation, in the absence of the President, shall act for and in the stead of the President. They shall be available for whatever duties the President shall assign to them as his representative.
Secretary
The Secretary is appointed by the President upon his/her election to the office of President. The Secretary will remain in this position until the President's Term has expired. The Secretary shall:
Be present at all Voters meetings of the congregation and at all meetings of the Church Council and shall enter the minutes of all meetings of said groups in a permanent record book
Conduct all official correspondence of the congregational Boards and committees under the supervision of the President.
Perform all the duties normally pertaining to this office and such additional duties as the Voting Membership may delegate.
Treasurer
The Treasurer is an elected position that will serve a two year term. The Treasurer shall function as a comptroller, handling no money directly, but managing the congregations receipts and disbursements. Some duties the Treasurer shall be responsible for are:
Accurately recording congregational receipts and disbursements, according to proper accounting procedures as deemed advisable.
Present a written, duplicated financial report for Voters Meetings.
Submit permanent financial records for annual audit
Prompt payment of salaries and bills authorized by the congregation for the Boards and Board Chairpersons as duly constituted sources.
Acolyte
Adult Choir
The Adult Choir serves by providing additional choral music anytime during the worship service depending on the scripture / sermon topics or holidays celebrated. Usually the music selected is arranged for choir but hymns from various hymnals are also used. The choir also helps lead the congregation in learning new hymns and liturgies.
Anyone (high school or older) who loves to use his or her voice to sing praise to the Lord is welcome to serve in the choir. While ability to read music is helpful, it is NOT required! Scripture tells us to "Make a joyful noise unto the Lord".
The choir practices Wednesday evenings from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the balcony of the sanctuary.
Altar Guild
The Altar Guild is a service committee which prepares and sets up for Communion each Sunday. Supplies for Communion are provided by the church and those who volunteer to serve are oriented to the duties by the chairperson of the Altar Guild.
Anyone and everyone is invited to serve. We even have mother/daughter teams. All ages are invited to participate and rotation is usually once every seven weeks.
Assisting Minister
Children's Messenger
The Children's Messenger presents a short (2-3 minute) children's sermon to the children present at the Sunday morning worship at the front of the sanctuary usually right before the sermon hymn and pastor's sermon.
The children's sermon is a lesson / object lesson related to the sermon or scripture readings. Visual aids (especially ones that the children can take home with them) will help get the message across. The message should be closed with a short, simple prayer. The idea is to engage the children's attention and teach or show them ONE thing they can easily remember about God's and Jesus' love for them.
Greeters
Greeters serve our Lord & our church in a very important way. This is because they are our "first impression" people. Often that Greeter will be the very first person a new guest will meet at Peace. Also, that Greeter serves our members in a special way by being the first smile or friendly word a fellow member might receive on a given Sunday Morning. Responsibilities of the Greeter include:
Being in the Narthex (sanctuary lobby) at least 15 minutes before the service begins
Greeting people as they come into the church
Watching carefully for guests and introducing themselves as well as introducing other members to guests when it seems natural to do so
Providing a bulletin to people as the go into the church
Being available in the Narthex at the end of the service to provide and information envelope & Friendship Mug to first time guests.
And, asking guests to sign our Guest Book.
Kitchen Duty
Kitchen Duty is a simple job making life pleasant for our members and is normally shared by at least two persons each week. These individuals make Kool-aid, coffee and provide snacks for the fellowship time between the Sunday worship service and Sunday School. While the Fellowship Board is responsible for keeping the coffee, Kool-aid, and paper goods supplied, the Kitchen Duty personnel usually provide snacks such as cheese crackers, cookies, doughnuts, or other baked goods. These can be store bought or home made. Finally, the Kitchen Duty personnel clean up and put away any dishes / containers used during the fellowship time.
Lector
The Lector is the person who reads the first two scripture lessons out loud at the lectern (the left podium if facing the altar) at the front of the church during the church worship service. The Assisting Minister or the Pastor will introduce each lesson before it is read. The Lector then reads each portion of scripture after it is introduced and returns to their seat at the end of the second reading. Anyone with the desire and ability to read out loud may serve as a Lector.

Prayer Chain
Prayer Chain participants are intercessory prayer warriors. On a strictly confidential basis, prayer requests received from members are presented to God's throne of grace and mercy on a regular basis by prayer chain members.
Upon receiving prayer chain requests, a prayer chain member writes it down in a safe confidential place, prays daily, and always maintains strict confidentiality concerning all requests.

Ushers
Ushers are persons who serve in a variety of ways both before, during, and after worship services. Before services, they check to insure that the facilities are ready for worshipers. This includes things like acolyte supplies, offering plates, baptismal font if there is a baptism, hymnals in place, lights and thermostat set, and even making sure restrooms have the needed supplies. Ushers also sometimes serve as substitute Greeters.
During the worship service, Users help with seating, answering phones, counting those present, collecting offerings and alms, and assisting with communion.
And following the worship service, Ushers straighten up the sanctuary and cry room, collect the attendance sheets from the pews and leave them in the office for the secretary. They also make sure the lights are turned off and the sanctuary is locked up.
